We are currently recruiting for the following positions:



Reports to: Head of Operations

Direct reports: Imports Manager, Merchandising Supervisor, Own Brand Coordinator, Imports Assistant

We are looking for a Production Merchandise Manager to support the company in a busy period of growth.

Key respsonsibilities and duties:

• Have complete overview of stock management and purchase ordering taking responsibility for hitting deadlines, budgets and KPIs.
• Manage workflow of the entire purchase ordering process - from making decisions on buying through to delivery.
• Challenge existing supply chain timelines and instigate rigorous processes and reporting to assess supplier performance as well as negotiating better terms.
• Ensure all purchase orders are placed in line with critical path and expected delivery dates are hit.
• Work closely with Product Development, Sales and Marketing to take a commercial overview on seasonal ordering and create a thorough plan to consolidate orders by supplier / production / date to maximise capacity.
• Oversee product compliance and QA standards are met as per customer specification.
• Responsible for ensuring all data and POs are recorded, uploaded, updated and communicated to relevant parties both within and outside the business.
• Manage the process of stock transfers to DTC marketplaces (Amazon) and internal ERP system (Brightpearl)
• Take responsibility for the stock file ensuring effective use of data fields for reporting.
• Oversee stock and sales analysis, highlighting slow sellers and reordering opportunities.
• Lead the weekly Buying Meeting proposing order quantities based on analysis.
• Create robust supply chain management strategies and processes that increase efficiency and speed.
• Collaborate with other departments to identify vulnerabilities and close operational gaps.
• Implement realistic KPIs to measure and manage every aspect of the buying/ordering workflow.

Desired skills:
• Understanding of the supply chain and stock management in a wholesale/import business.
• A confident, dynamic team player able to motivate a small team to hit key deadlines.
• Commercially astute and strategic decision maker able to manage multiple priorities.
• A “Can do” and assertive person in tune with the wider requirements of the business.
• Highly logical, numerate, accurate, a problem solver and into the detail.
• Tenacious and forensic in approach to the analysis of numbers and processes.
• Able to present information succinctly and take meetings with colleagues from different departments.
• Microsoft Office proficiency with very strong Excel skills.
• Experience in Sage 200 or similar with data extraction experience.

We’re looking for a creative and pro-active Project Editor to join our small, busy team at Ice House Books – a new and growing gift-book imprint at Half Moon Bay. Reporting to the Publishing Manager and working alongside the Assistant Editor, you’ll be creating funny, stylish, on-trend adult gift books, as well as book and gift boxsets – both licensed and own-brand. Our ideal new team member will have a great sense of humour and a feel for the latest trends in style, fashion, brands and gifting generally. Someone who can come up with fun ideas, brief designers to create covers and spreads, and project-manage titles through to completion. You will have experience in book publishing – conceptualising, writing, editing, briefing designers and freelancers – and some knowledge of book production, including costs, specs and printer schedules. Some experience in gift product and packaging would be helpful, but not essential as training can be provided. Half Moon Bay occupy a bright, contemporary office in central Bath, where Ice House Books sits alongside dynamic design and product teams. The friendly, creative working atmosphere makes it a great place to work.

Key responsibilities and duties:
• Project-managing an assigned list of book titles and gift sets from concept to completion, in line with a critical path.
• Communicating with suppliers on costs and specs for books, packaging and products.
• Coming up with fun, on-trend new book and gift-set ideas.
• Researching and writing gift books – lifestyle, quotes, humour, etc.
• Editing, proofreading and applying amendments into InDesign layouts.
• Briefing designers (in-house and freelance) and authors and illustrators (freelance).
• Communicating with licensors on artwork approvals.
• Writing key selling points and product descriptions for marketing and online use.
• Keeping information up-to-date in Excel worksheets.
• Helping to organise advances, printed samples and sales material for trade shows.

The candidate:
• Excellent creative writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• An eye for design and able to collaborate with designers.
• Expert at managing multiple projects at different stages.
• Skilled at self-organisation and time-management.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and InDesign.
• Wicked sense of humour.
